I went to a church event called the “Big Picture of the Bible” at Shoreline Church last Saturday. I had the greatest experience there. Although I grew up in a Christian home and went to Sunday school almost every weekend for my entire life, no one had really given me the overall road map of the bible and taught me how each bible story fit into it. Through this event, God gave me just what I needed for all these years. The three speakers (2 pastors, 1 pastor’s son) were wonderful. They guided the fifty or so of us that came through the 11 movements of the bible and the books that fell into each movement. Through the six-hour-session, they went through the history, key characters, and the big events in each movement. They also went through why we needed God and about the persistent temptation that we have to battle with everyday.
It was just what I needed. I felt like I could finally see how the bible stories I grew up with fit into the overarching themes in the bible. Everything became a little bit more clear!
After the event, I went to a cafe with my mom and she was surprised by how many questions I had for her about the bible. She was pleasantly surprised to see how interested I was in the bible. I think this event just brought my relationship with the Lord to a different level.
One thing I know for sure is that I still have a LOT to learn about the bible. This is just the beginning.
